In the 1841 census as Emily Croucher aged 15, born in Hampshire, and living with Thomas (father?), Ann (mother?), Alexander, Ann, Charles, Emily, Hannah, John, Selina and William (brothers and sisters?) at Ripley, Sopley, Hampshire.

In the 1851 census as Emily Croucher aged 25, born in Ripley, Hampshire, single, employed as a servant and living with Eliza Dugey (aged 20, single and also a servant) at 7 Prospect Place, Southampton All Saints, Hampshire. There was no head of household, and she could have been working for William Iremonger and family who lived at 6 Prospect Place.

Ripley is just north of Sopley, and three miles north of Christchurch. Christchurch was in Hampshire until 1974.
