His two sisters were baptised in Frensham in 1755 and 1758, and last sister in Farnham in 1761.

"Commiffary of Surrey} Appeared perfonally John Croucher and made oath, that he is of Frensham in the County of Surrey & Diocese of Winchester of the age of twenty one years & upwards and intendeth to marry with Ann Morley of the parish of Haslemere in the said County of Surrey & Diocese of Winchester Spinster of the Age of twenty one years & upwards and that he knoweth of no lawful Impediment, by reafon of any Pre-Contract, Affinity, or any other lawful Means whatfoever, to hinder the faid intended Marriage, and prayed a Licence to folemnize the fame in the Parish Church of Haslemere aforesaid and further made Oath, that the ufual Place of Abode of him the said John Croucher hath been in the faid Parifh of Frensham for the Space of four weeks paft. Sworn before me [...] Sep 24 1782 [He made his mark]."
