1319 Hambledon, Surrey: Thomas Jolyf (Jolliff) paid 10/- for the surrender of a messuage and half virgate in Hameldon' previously owned by Alice atte Cruch'.
A messuage was a dwelling house and legal rights such as access to commons etc.
